For the very first time in BaselOne’s history, we are introducing a new format: a panel discussion. The topic: “Ethics and AI – What Responsibility Does Software Development Carry?”. Right after lunch on the conference day (Oct 16, 2025), experts from different fields will discuss opportunities, risks, and the shared responsibility in dealing with artificial intelligence. See the full program for more details.
Why a Panel on AI and Responsibility?
Software developers don’t just create technology – they also share responsibility for its impact on society. Questions around data protection, bias in large language models (LLMs), and the psychological effects of AI systems are becoming more and more important.
This is exactly where the BaselOne 2025 AI Panel Discussion comes in: it highlights the ethical dimensions of software development with artificial intelligence and invites developers to reflect critically on their role.
The Panelists
- Danielle Kaufmann – Data Protection Officer of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. Her focus: regulation and data protection in AI.
- Philipp Klett – a driving force behind the development of a data and AI platform of the Cantone. His perspective: technology, scaling, and responsibility.
- Dr. Monika Spahl – specialist in internal medicine, psychotherapy, and Gestalt therapy. She adds the human perspective: What does AI mean for health, psyche, and society?
- Dr. Jan-Arne Gewert – Lecturer at FHNW, with expertise in leadership, management, and organizational development. He contributes the perspective of how companies and leaders can responsibly and ethically integrate AI into structures and culture.
The panel will be moderated by Arthur Neudeck, who will bring together the different viewpoints and guide the discussion.
Who should attend?
This format is aimed at software developers, architects, and IT leaders who want to look beyond the purely technical horizon and explore the ethical consequences of AI.
Whether it’s about algorithmic fairness, transparent software development, or the responsibility of developers in the use of AI – this panel will deliver fresh insights, practical examples, and new perspectives.
Join us for the very first panel at BaselOne – and take part in the discussion on Ethics and AI, the responsibility of software development, and the opportunities of artificial intelligence.
